    We use circle hooks …
    We use circle hooks. Using a rubber band bridle allows the hook the freedom of movement it requires to lock into the jaw corner.
    Hooking the fish straight through the nose with a circle hook often leads to the fish being hooked deep, which means it will not fight well and may die after release.

    If you hook into the nose, you’ll continue to tear into that area with the hook in it and you end up losing your bait.
