How do you fit saddles, bridles, blankets, and halters?

i am going to get my first horse and i dont know any of these answers….can you please answer them for me?
well saddles are hard u mainly want it to fit you and you can do this by going to ur local saddlery and have them fit you the seat sizes are measured in inches usually starting at 16 in and moving up by halves like 16.5 and flaps are measured in whole #’s starting by 0 and depends on ur height it also has to fit ur horse and that is very important cuz it could hurt ur horses back
always get one on trial be4 u buy it and when taking it for a trial have a very expierienced horse person look at it on ur horse
bridle/halters; same size types: pony(self explanatory)cob(smaller horses) horse(again self explanatory)large(for larger horses)
blankets u need a long measuring tape and u measure from the center or the horses chest to the back of their butt and that would be the blanket size
don’t forget brushes, saddle pads, girth boots for riding or turn out
depending on where u live ull need ull need a sheet, heavy blanket, and a fleece or wol cooler. dont forget stirrups and stirrup leathers and some basic first aid stuff like vet wrap and aloe vera just in case. yu may want some bath stuff too
good luck and have fun. also some saddlerys have a first horse coupon thing where they give a few discounts for some of that basic horse stuff but u have to ask about a first horse discount
good luck and have fun

Best thing to do is either take the horse with you to buy the items or find someone to come out to you. I just got my first horse and we did the latter. You shouldn’t try and guess, you could end up with a saddle that hurts the horse and a bridle that wont fit. With the rug, just ask at the shop, say the horses breed, height and length. I did this and got it right first time.

Saddles-
They come in small, medium, and wide trees. Some saddles have adjustable gullets. Depending on how big your horses’ back is, you go according to the tree. Before you buy any saddle, you should get it on a trial and test it on you and your horse. Ask an experienced horse person what size you think they’d be, tree-wise. Make sure it fits you too.
Bridles-
They tipically come in pony, cob, and horse. Some might be bigger than others. If you’re getting a horse, get a horse bridle. You can always adjust the buckles to fit your horse.
Blankets-
You measure your horse from front to back. Measure him and see if theres that size blanket in your barn and see if you can try it on. (:
Halters-
Almost like bridles- they come in pony, cob, and horse. It all depends on your horses’ head size.

You got some good answers above, so I’m going to try to give you other things to look for.
When your bridle is on your horse (with the bit in his mouth) There should be one little wrinkle just above the bit in the corner of the horses mouth.
If your using a bit with a shank on it (Not a snaffle), it needs to have a chin strap/curb strap on the bit. Or you will have no whoa.
You didn’t state weather you were going english or western.
If western, you need a saddle pad or thick blanket. Make sure the saddle in not resting on your horses withers. That’s very important.
