Are American Saddlery Saddles Any good?

I am looking at an barrel saddle by american saddlery, and i have wanted it for awhile now, but I have heard that they are good, and then again I have heard that they are arent. So are they good or not? Please help me!

Thank you so much

It all depends! I had a trail saddle that was made by them when I was a teen and it was ok but I ended up getting rid of it because it was uncomfortable to ride in for hours at a time . One of my friends had one as well that she loved it! It was a barrel saddle but Im unsure which model it was. I would look it up on horsetackreview.com! They have feedback on all the different models they make. I think with american saddlery it just depends on the make/ model of the saddle. They are a cheaper saddle so it may not last you for years as other brands were.

test riding a saddle from dover saddlery?

March 12010

Tomorrow I’m going to try out a Collegiate Dignitary saddle from Dover Saddlery and I was wondering if I’m going to need to buy stirrup leathers and irons or if they come with the saddle that I’m going to test ride?

thanks!

If you’re getting it from Dover, I would find it unlikely that they’re going to send accessories with it. It will probably be just the saddle. You’ll need to provide your own leathers, irons, girth, and saddle pads. You’ll need those things for the saddle you buy anyway, so you might as well go ahead and get them. Or if you want to wait to match them to the saddle, see if someone has a pair of stirrups for you to borrow.

Is it ok to use Murphys oil soap on saddlery?

I’ve used Murphy’s to CLEAN leather for decades. But then you MUST use a conditioner afterwards. I also use it as part of the ingredients for my own one step saddle conditioner/cleaner. I prefer the gel over the liquid Murphys, because you can get a nice lather out of it when cleaning the underside of western fenders, stirrup leathers etc. I like it a lot because of it’s smell…

Dover Saddlery… How do you feel about the company?

February 212010

I was just wondering how horse people feel about Dover Saddlery. Do you order from them often? How is their service, are they easy to work with? How are their products? I want to order a new saddle but can’t decide who to buy it with. Dover seems to be my best choice but I’ve never ordered from them before. Thanks!

Dover is ok- There prices are a little high, and you can usually find the product cheaper elsewhere if you know where to look. Customer service is usually good, but a few of the people are very rude. On the plus side, Dover’s great when you have to exchange / return something. Their products are usually good, but remember, you get what you pay for. As someone said, shipping prices are a little high. Another bad thing about Dover, is that a lot of their products are out of stock, and it usually takes a few weeks before they get whatever you need.

I’ve never ordered a saddle from Dover, but if you know that you like the saddle, and you know what size fits your horse, websites from the UK have most saddles for hundreds cheaper (even with shipping) than what you find in the US.
