Horse Tack & Saddles

I recently purchased new tack for my horse, and i just wondered what is best to do with it while its brand new?
Oil it?
Or soap?
Any sugestions for the best tack cleaner/soaps around?
I used to use carr and day and martin yellow saddle soap, but because it isnt clear it wrecks the stitching, and makes it look messy. thanks

if your tack is brand new you want to oil it let it sit a while then buff it, if your tack is used the you want to soap then oil. never clean leather without putting some kind of oil or conditioner on after cleaning or your leather can start to crack and get dry.

   Get some saddle soap/leather soap, if you really want it to soften you can get conditioners, they make it supple!

   conditioning it is a must before you use it because otherwise it will crack most work just as well as the next.

   Saddle soap and warm damper sponge, when that dries then appy NEATSFOOT OIL you can get it at any grocery store where they sell shoe polish!

   oil it with Pessoa leather oil.
   and do NOT oil the seat or the knee rolls.
   only the skirt and the billets and the flaps.

   Murrhy oil soap works the best have use it on my tack my whole life and it has naver disported me onces u can buy it at wal*mart gental dollar store for no morew then like 3 or 4 bucks not to much but works good i would say use it.
