that was a pethetic …
that was a pethetic tack the first step to doing one is getting it 50-50 on the steel and also not putting it on the corner cause if you were welding that you would have to go over your tack which will make your weld have a hump and it will look un even.

in my experience, …
in my experience, if your welds arent penetrating you need more heat to get deeper into the metal. Just make sure youre not going to blow a fuse in your shop or anything. one reason welds can be ugly is because your gas isn’t at a high enough psi. If you let O2 into the welding environment it can screw up your welds

well you cant just …
well you cant just say what settings to use as every welder is different. even the same models will weld a little bit different. make sure your getting enough heat and that your wire speed isnt to fast. the best way i have found to weld with normal wire is to push the pool of weld slowly along at an even pace. this is the best way to start in my opinion

that is how you would weld right to left but you would have you nossel on a more of a 45DEG angle give it ago and let us Know

Tip #2: After …
Tip #2: After tacking something together, ALWAYS start your welding on the OPPOSITE side of the tack! Otherwise, when the weld starts to cool, the weld metal will contract and pull that side out of position.
