Wintec and other synthetic tack?
February 252010
How do you like it, is it comfortable for the horse and rider. Any comments on durability and quality of different brands would be great!
Also, any comments on synthetic bridles, reins, girths etc.
Thanks!
I use a wintec saddle and it is ace. Its dead easy to look after and after a days hunt when its covered in mud i just hose it off no saddle soap or anything just a hose and leave it to dry in the sun. Also i have used leather before but i find that synthetic lasts longer and is much more flexible. Also it isnt damaged by exposer to the rain and then sun. I also get really good performance out of my horse with the saddle and she doesnt struggle at all. It s brilliant also becaus it has a changeable gullet so when she puts on weight i dont have to have it re flocked i just chnge the gullet which is great for the summer/winter weight gain and loss.

Synthetic is great! It is really comfy for my horse, easy to clean, and it comes in all different colors! Wow, I sound like a commercial. lol. But it really is great. I have two synthetic bridles and one leather one. I use the leather one for show and the synthetic ones for everything else! I love em! They are super sturdy.

The Wintec line is GREAT. I use the pro jumping one and it is extremly comfortable. The awesome thing about the saddles is you can make it comfortable to almost any horse with the exchangable gullet system. They are very durable because if it gets dirty, you just spray it off with a hose. You can also ride in the rain without a worry. I would highly reccomend buying one.

im not a massive fan of synthetic – in a choice between perfect fitting synthetic and perfect fitting leather id always choose the latter but ive used plenty of synthetic in my time – it doesnt last as long as leather but is so easy to maintain and cheaper to begin with so it works out much the same. i dont much like synthetic bridles – just from pure astetics (spelling?!) but i use alot of "ladder" reins (webbing with little slats of leather) which i find are great.

I have owned a
Thorogood maxam synthetic english… Loved it, trailrode it for a year and schooled and showed in it the rest. It didn’t fit my mule was the only reason I sold it. but no complaints about it at all.
Wintec 2000— I think I am the only person that didn’t like it lol. I couldn’t get the girth tight enough on it to hold the saddle on my mule, and it did cause a wreck and me getting injured due to it and ended up selling it. I was using the wintec girth but no matter how hard I tried to get it tight, it wouldn’t. My sis bought it, loves it and has no complaints. It was nice quality tho, but again, huuuge problem for me on tightening.

Wintec is excellent I used it for years. thorowgood I don’t think are designed well although well made. If you are in the UK, Plas Equestrian make the best synthetic bridles, you can have it made to measure by post http://www.plas-equestrian.co.uk I think. I have some of their bridles I’ve had 20 years and still good as new.

I do not use synthetic, but a horse I used to ride did. I really liked it… it was really easy to manage, and felt good. I used wintec. I have not actually ridden in a synthetic saddle, only a bridle, but it was really nice! If you don’t like the feel of the reins, which some people don’t, you can always get leather reins and switch them out. Hope this helps!

It is great, it’s lighter and easier to care for then leather. And it isn’t as expensive.

I LOVE MY WINTEC SADDLE! i love everything about it…its super comfy..has a changable gullet which is sooooooooo convenient and great haha and the material is great. so easy to take care of…and its not priced rediculously so its good in that way too. ive had mine for 3 years now and the most i’ve ever done is wipe it off with a wet wipe / damp sponge and its in mint condition. i would highly recommend wintec! i also have the girth with is perfect because its easy to clean, just wipe it off!
